Getting to Know
the Archetypes: Artemis

11th March 2025

Author: Keyona Fazli

At NOUSHELLA, we seek to create garments that transcend beyond the body, developed from psychological studies and with the use of symbols, arts, history, and different cultures. This allows NOUSHELLA to not only showcase and celebrate external beauty, but also reveal the beauty within the individual. Understanding the profound impact of psychological nuances, NOUSHELLA deliberately embraces archetypal fashion, infusing its design philosophy with elements from Jungian psychology and Greek mythology. This unique approach seeks to forge a figurative connection between fashion and psychology, where Jungian mythical motifs serve as a bridge between ancient narratives and contemporary styles. In the words of Jung, 'Mythical motifs frequently appear, but clothed in modern dress,' highlighting NOUSHELLA’s commitment to weaving psychological depth into the fabric of fashion.

Artemis, the Goddess of the Hunt and the Moon, embodies a psychological archetype associated with independence and determination. Those with the Artemis archetype show a strong commitment to their goals, often concentrating intensely on matters important to them. These individuals possess a passion for competition, finding excitement in pursuing goals and are often aligned with feminist movements, driven by strong convictions and a desire for meaningful pursuits. Fierce and adventurous in spirit, this archetype typically follows paths of personal growth. People embodying the Artemis archetype also tend to turn their focus inward, engaging in introspective journeys to deepen their understanding of self and purpose.

The garment we would like to highlight today is the Bract Skirt, a black skirt with an scalloped edge that reveals NOUSHELLA's signature Elysium pattern. Creative Director Jalal utilised symbolic shapes to keep the piece simple, yet draw attention to the intricate details on the skirt. To reflect Artemis’s association with nature and her role as a protector, contemporary style elements have been incorporated alongside the Elysium carpet patterns. The skirt seamlessly integrates elements of strength, sophistication, and a hint of celestial allure, rendering it a beautiful option for individuals in search of a harmonious fusion of mythic inspiration and contemporary aesthetics.
